The 2019 Taurasi Riserva Paterico draws the taster in as it slowly unfolds in the glass, mixing ashy crushed stones with notes of forest floor, dried violets, blackcurrants, and exotic spices. It’s dense and still youthful but already highly complex. A silky wave of ripe red and black fruits flows across the palate, building energy and grip toward the finish. The 2019 excels through its acidity—lively and incredibly fresh. Hints of blood orange resonate over a layer of fine-grained tannins, with savory nuances of sage and olive lingering long after. Today, it can be admired for its potential alone, but patience will be needed to see it fully blossom over time.

Campania is a region in southern Italy that is known for producing some of the country's most unique and flavorful wines. The region has a long history of winemaking, dating back to ancient times when the Greeks first introduced grape cultivation to the area.

The style of production in Campania is heavily influenced by the region's volcanic soil, which is rich in minerals and nutrients that give the wines a distinct character. The most famous grape varieties grown in Campania are Aglianico, Fiano, and Greco, which are used to produce a range of red, white, and sparkling wines.

Aglianico is the most widely planted grape in Campania and is used to produce full-bodied red wines with intense flavors of dark fruit, spice, and earth. Fiano and Greco are both white grape varieties that produce crisp, refreshing wines with notes of citrus, apple, and mineral.

Overall, Campania is a region that is known for producing wines with a strong sense of place and a unique character that reflects the region's history and terroir. Whether you are looking for a bold red wine or a crisp white, Campania has something to offer for every wine lover.

Taurasi DOCG, often referred to as the "Barolo of the South," is one of Italy's most prestigious wine regions, located in the heart of Campania. Known for producing bold, age-worthy wines, Taurasi is primarily crafted from the ancient Aglianico grape, a varietal revered for its rich tannins, vibrant acidity, and remarkable aging potential.

Nestled in the rolling hills of the Avellino province, the vineyards of Taurasi benefit from a unique combination of volcanic soils, high altitudes, and a Mediterranean climate, which impart the wines with both power and elegance. The result is a robust, full-bodied red with deep flavors of dark cherry, plum, tobacco, and spices, often with hints of leather and earthy minerality. As these wines age, they develop extraordinary complexity, revealing layers of dried fruit, balsamic notes, and velvety tannins.

With its DOCG status, Taurasi is recognized as a premier expression of Southern Italy's winemaking prowess. These wines are perfect for collectors and connoisseurs seeking a profound, structured red wine with a sense of place and tradition.
