Form schist and gneiss soils, the 2022 Ried Gaisberg 1ÖTW Riesling opens with a very fragrant, quite reductive bouquet with flint stone spice. Mineral, salty and juicy on the palate, with good density and a medium body, this is a promising Riesling that still needs some time to show itself even better. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork.

Kamptal is a wine region located in the north-eastern part of Austria, known for producing some of the finest white wines in the country. The region is situated along the banks of the Kamp River, which provides a unique microclimate that is ideal for growing grapes.

The history of winemaking in Kamptal dates back to the Roman times, but it was not until the 19th century that the region gained recognition for its wines. Today, Kamptal is known for its high-quality Grüner Veltliner and Riesling wines, which are characterized by their crisp acidity, minerality, and fruity aromas.

The style of production in Kamptal is focused on sustainable and organic farming practices, with many winemakers using biodynamic methods to cultivate their vineyards. The grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted before being fermented in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, depending on the desired style of wine.

In addition to Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, Kamptal also produces other white grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Blanc. The region is also known for its red wines, particularly Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch, which are full-bodied and rich in flavor.

Overall, Kamptal is a region that offers a diverse range of high-quality wines, with a focus on sustainable and organic production methods. Its unique terroir and long history of winemaking make it a must-visit destination for wine lovers.
