From a cru facing southeast to southwest, the Riesling Grand Cru Kitterlé is yielded with just 25 hl/ha and opens with a pure but deep, intense, very mineral and fruity bouquet with some mocha and crushed stone aromas. Great, great expression and concentration here! There is a beautiful purity and tension on the palate that gives this wine a rather sharp, lean and mineral expression. This is pure salt, with crushed stones on your palate and a tight mineral structure that reflects the great terroir of the Kitterlé, which is one of the stoniest and steepest vineyards in Alsace – and probably one of the best terroirs for Riesling, too. The soils are composed of sandstone and volcanic material. The finish is long, tight and promising. This is a must-buy.
