The 2011 Savennières Clos du Papillon is a rich, fruit intense and powerful, but also very elegant and mineral, perfectly balanced Chenin with everything in place to age superbly. Compared to the 2010 it is quite intense and much fruitier and impetuous. The aromas are more from white- than yellow-fleshed fruits and the freshness, salinity, and transparency are really rare for wines of this fighting weight of 14.5% alcohol. The only danger here is that you drink it quicker than is good for you. The salty aftertaste and the inner harmony here is so absolutely delicious and animating…
