Bouchard Père & Fils - Gevrey-Chambertin

Bouchard Père & Fils is a renowned wine producer with a rich history dating back to 1731. Their Gevrey-Chambertin is a classic Burgundy wine that is sure to impress even the most discerning wine connoisseur.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is performing nicely from bottle, delivering a generous bouquet of wild plums, cherries, smoked meats, and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, muscular, and nicely concentrated, with tangy acids and chalky structuring tannins, it's already rounder and more charming than it was from bottle, but it will benefit from a little bottle age.

Medium to full-bodied, muscular, and nicely concentrated, with tangy acids and chalky structuring tannins, it's already rounder and more charming than it was from bottle, but it will benefit from a little bottle age.
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is also showing very well revisited from bottle, opening in the glass with a deep bouquet of cassis, red plums, and wild berries, mingled with nuances of grilled meats and loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and velvety, with a generous core of fruit, melting tannins and succulent acids.
Apparently the 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Village was a more normal crop than the Chambolle-Musigny. It has a tightly wound bouquet that will need a couple of years to find its voice in bottle. The palate is medium bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, fine tension here if missing a little complexity right on the finish. But overall, this is a very pleasurable village cru from Bouchard Père.
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from 17 different parcels over ten hectares. It has a feisty and exuberant bouquet with touches of orange sorbet infusing the kirsch and redcurrant aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, quite masculine and firm in the mouth, but feels just a little clipped on the finish compared to the Nuits Saint-Georges, which felt more cohesive now.
The Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from 10.4 hectares of out-sourced grapes, their own team working the vineyards. It has a commendable raspberry and crushed strawberry bouquet that is straightforward and nicely delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red berry fruit, nicely judged acidity, and a harmonious, easy-drinking finish. Fine.

Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils, is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy, perpetuating tradition for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations. In 1775, Joseph Bouchard acquired his first vineyards in Volnay in the famous “Les Caillerets” climat and started to develop the family’s vineyard holdings.

During the French Revolution, property belonging to the clergy and nobility was confiscated and put up for sale. Joseph’s son, Antoine Philibert Joseph Bouchard, seized the opportunity to extend the family’s vineyard holdings in Beaune including the famous “Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus.”

This desire to build up an exceptional estate in Côte d’Or endured through the generations and acquisitions in the best Villages were added throughout the 19th century and again in the early 20th century.

Chardonnay er den primære drue til hvidvin i Bourgogne og udgør 48 % af vinstokkene og 68 % af produktionen. Chardonnay sætter pris på Bourgognes mergeljord, som giver den delikate blomster-, frugt- og mineralaromaer og en fyldig smag. Aligoté er den anden hvide drue og tegner sig for 6 % af produktionen. {Læs mere om den gamle Aligoté-drue i Bourgogne.}
