A wine of great finesse distinguished and elegant. The colour is pure and bright, with light glints of white gold. The aromas evoke trees in bloom and white flesh fruit, like white peaches. With age, the aromas evolve towards almond and lightly grilled dried fruit. On the palate, there is a sensation of fresh silkiness. Long and persistent in the aftertaste, ending on an exceptional wealth of flavours, both floral and fruity

Exuberant aromas of pear, citrus zest, white flowers, and toasty oak introduce the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Village, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy but precise wine that's charming and open-knit. Ripe and generous, this will drink well young.
Bursting with notes of pear, orange oil, white flowers, and toast, the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Village is medium to full-bodied, charming, and enveloping, with succulent acids and a textural, giving profile. It will drink well young.
The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village reveals a pretty bouquet of white peach, lemon, citrus blossom, and beeswax. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, elegant, and glossy, with an open-knit, succulent profile. This will drink well on release.
The 2015 Puligny Montrachet Village has a delightful linden and lemon zest bouquet with a squeeze of fresh lime for good measure. The palate is medium bodied with a fine line of acidity that imbues this village cru with a touch more brightness than the Meursault, if not the same weight or viscosity. Nevertheless, this is a well-crafted Puligny from Drouhin that should represent good value for money once in bottle.
The 2014 Puligny Montrachet has a little more vivacity and precision than the Meursault, perhaps more mineralité too. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry with good weight, tons of freshly sliced lime and kiwi fruit here with a bravura of a finish. Not a complex Puligny, but it compensates with its joie-de-vivre.
The Puligny-Montrachet is plump, juicy, and immediate. It possesses good depth and balance at this level, even if some of the persistence trails off on the mid-palate and finish. Sweet apricots and peaches are layered into the generous, inviting finish.

If you're a wine enthusiast or simply enjoy indulging in a luxurious experience, then Joseph Drouhin's Puligny-Montrachet is a must-try French white wine. With its rich taste profile, this exquisite wine is a world-renowned product of the Burgundy region.

Founded in Beaune in 1880, Maison Joseph Drouhin's cellars have spread from the historical Cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France in Beaune (12th-18th centuries) to the Moulin de Vaudon, an 18th Century watermill in Chablis.

The Joseph Drouhin Domaine was assembled parcel by parcel over the years and comprises today 73 hectares (182.5 acres) of vineyards in Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise and Chablis. It is one of the most important domains in Burgundy, with more than two thirds of the vineyards classified as Premier and Grand Crus.

With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations.

The French Wine region of Burgundy (aka “Bourgogne”) may be small in size, but its influence is huge in the world of vino. The complexity of Burgundy can cast fear into the heart of even a seasoned wine pro, but fear not – the region need only be as complicated as you want it to be. Yes, it is home to some of the most expensive wines in the known universe, but there are also tasty and affordable wines.

Main grapes:

Pinot Noir originated in Burgundy and these vines cover 34% of the region, accounting for 29% of overall wine production. The red grape does extremely well in limestone and clay soil, which helps create their complexity. Pinot Noir wines from Burgundy range in colour from cherry to brick, are light in body, and typically have red fruit and spicy flavours. Gamay is a red grape also grown in Burgundy, but only makes up 10% of the vines.

Chardonnay is the primary grape for white wines in Burgundy, making up 48% of the vines and 68% of production. Chardonnay appreciates Burgundy’s marl soil, which gives it delicate floral, fruit, and mineral aromas and full-bodied flavours. Aligoté is the second white grape, accounting for 6% grown. {Read more about the ancient Aligoté grape in Burgundy.}

The region does produce a sparkling wine called Crémant de Bourgogne. It can be made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Aligoté, Gamay, Sacy, and Melon. Varieties include blanc, blanc de blancs, blanc de noirs, and rosé.

Puligny-Montrachet is a small wine appellation located in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy, France. The history of winemaking in this area dates back to the Roman times, and the appellation has been producing some of the finest white wines in the world for centuries.

The style of production in Puligny-Montrachet is focused on producing high-quality, elegant white wines that are known for their complexity, depth, and finesse. The appellation is known for its Chardonnay grapes, which are grown on the slopes of the Côte de Beaune, where the soil is rich in limestone and clay.

The grapes grown in Puligny-Montrachet are carefully tended to by skilled winemakers who use traditional methods to produce wines that are true to the terroir of the region. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, and then gently pressed to extract the juice. The juice is then fermented in oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften the acidity and add complexity to the wine.

The typical wines from Puligny-Montrachet are elegant, complex, and full of character. They are known for their aromas of citrus, white flowers, and honey, and their flavors of ripe fruit, minerals, and oak. The wines are aged in oak barrels for up to 18 months, which gives them a rich, creamy texture and a long, lingering finish.

The most famous wines from Puligny-Montrachet are the Grand Cru wines, which are produced from the best vineyards in the appellation. These wines are known for their exceptional quality and are highly sought after by wine collectors and connoisseurs around the world.

In conclusion, Puligny-Montrachet is a small but highly respected wine appellation that produces some of the finest white wines in the world. The appellation's focus on quality, traditional winemaking methods, and the unique terroir of the region make it a must-visit destination for wine lovers and enthusiasts.
