Henri Giraud Fût de Chene MV Grand Cru Brut Rosé

Henri Giraud is a Champagne producer known for its high-quality, handcrafted wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Champagne region. Located in the village of Aÿ, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, the house has been producing exceptional Champagnes since 1625, making it one of the oldest Champagne houses in the region.

The Champagne region, located in northeastern France, is renowned for its cool climate, chalky soils, and unique method of production, which involves a secondary fermentation in the bottle. This method, known as the méthode champenoise, creates the signature bubbles and complex flavors that are synonymous with Champagne.

Henri Giraud is a family-owned and operated Champagne house, currently run by Claude Giraud, the 12th generation of the Giraud family. The house has a total of 18 hectares of vineyards, with a majority planted with Pinot Noir, the dominant grape variety in the region. The remaining vineyards are planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, which are used in smaller proportions to create more complex blends.

One of the unique aspects of Henri Giraud is their use of oak barrels, a technique that is not commonly used in Champagne production. The Fût de Chene MV Grand Cru Brut Rose is a prime example of this, as it is aged in oak casks for 12 months before bottling. This imparts a distinct depth and complexity to the wine, with notes of toasted almonds, vanilla, and a creamy mouthfeel.

The Fût de Chene MV Grand Cru Brut Rose is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the villages of Aÿ and Verzenay. It is a non-vintage Champagne, meaning that it is a blend of multiple vintages, carefully selected to create a consistent and high-quality wine year after year.
