The mandatory wood aging and strict production standards result in wines with deeper color intensity, enhanced tannin structure, and greater longevity compared to other Barbera appellations. These wines typically display concentrated dark fruit flavors with notes of cherry and plum, balanced by Barbera's characteristic bright acidity, often developing complex tertiary aromas of leather, tobacco, and spice with bottle age.
