Chateau Musar

Chateau Musar is a renowned wine producer located in the heart of the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, the winery has become one of the most iconic and respected producers in the region. The winery is currently run by Gaston’s sons, Serge and Ronald Hochar, who continue to uphold the family’s legacy of producing exceptional wines.

The Bekaa Valley, where Chateau Musar is situated, is a fertile region with a rich history of winemaking dating back to the Phoenicians. The valley is known for its warm days and cool nights, which create the perfect conditions for growing grapes with intense flavors and aromas. The grapes used in Chateau Musar wines are grown at high altitudes, ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 meters, which adds complexity to the wines.

Chateau Musar produces a range of red, white, and rosé wines, each with its unique character and style. The winery is known for its flagship wine, the Chateau Musar Red, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan grapes. This wine is aged for at least seven years before release, with four years in French oak barrels and three years in the bottle. This extended aging process gives the wine a complex and elegant character, with notes of dark fruits, spices, and earthy undertones.

In addition to their red wine, Chateau Musar also produces a white wine made from a blend of Obaideh and Merwah grapes, two indigenous varietals to the Bekaa Valley. This wine is aged for at least nine months in French oak barrels, resulting in a full-bodied wine with notes of tropical fruits, honey, and almonds.

Chateau Musar’s rosé is a blend of Cinsault, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which are aged for six to nine months
