Skinos Mastiha Spirit

Skinos Mastiha Spirit

Skinos is a Greek spirits producer specialising in mastiha liqueur, a category rooted in one of Greece's most distinctive botanical ingredients. Mastiha is a resin harvested exclusively from mastic trees (Pistacia lentiscus var. chia) grown on the island of Chios in the Aegean Sea. The resin, often called "tears" due to the droplets that form when the tree bark is scored, carries Protected Designation of Origin status and has been cultivated on Chios for thousands of years.

Mastiha liqueur is produced by infusing or distilling the resin to capture its characteristic flavour profile: a fresh, piney, slightly herbaceous quality with notes of cedar, anise, and a clean, resinous finish. Skinos positions its expression at the more contemporary end of the category, with a focus on clarity and balance rather than heavy sweetness, making it suitable both as a digestif and as a cocktail ingredient. The liqueur is typically enjoyed chilled, over ice, or mixed with tonic water.

The Skinos Classic expression reflects the core style of the brand — a transparent, medium-bodied liqueur that showcases mastiha's distinctive aromatic character without heavy added flavourings or colour. It represents a straightforward introduction to mastiha as a spirit category, which remains relatively niche outside of Greece despite growing international interest in Aegean botanical spirits.
