Tasting Notes
The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru opens with aromas of dark berries and plums, mingled with orange zest, incense and spices. On the palate it is full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a rich and enveloping core of fruit. The style is suave and refined.
Bright ruby-red. Lovely mineral and peony high notes lift dark fruits on the nose. Sappy, dense and penetrating, offering terrific concentration and lift to its flavours of dark berries, liquorice and minerals. A superb vintage for this wine, less austere than some previous years. This thick but energetic wines finishes with suave but serious building tannins and superb length.
The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has turned out very nicely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of blackberries, cassis, dark chocolate, sweet soil tones and peonies. Full-bodied, layered, and concentrated, it's deep and youthfully reserved, with powdery tannins, succulent acids and chalky grip on the finish.

This wine is slightly volatile on the nose which is a shame because the fruits are clean and lively. The palate is full-bodied with dense tannins, rather hard and aggressive, leading to an austere, tannic, rather mean finish.
