Les Maîtres Vignerons de Vidauban - La Vidaubanaise

Les Maîtres Vignerons de Vidauban, also known as La Vidaubanaise, is a cooperative winery based in Vidauban, a commune in the Var département of Provence in southeastern France. Cooperatives have long played a central role in Provençal winemaking, pooling the fruit of numerous small growers across the local terroir. Their wines fall under the Var IGP designation, a broad appellation that covers much of the Var département and allows for considerable flexibility in grape varieties and blending.

Provence is best known globally for its dry rosé wines, which typically emphasise pale colour, freshness, and restrained fruit — a style shaped by the region's warm Mediterranean climate, mistral winds, and varied soils ranging from limestone and clay to schist. The Var IGP, while less geographically restrictive than appellations such as Côtes de Provence AOP, draws on the same regional character and allows producers to work with a wide palette of traditional southern French grape varieties.

The cooperative's Plaisir Rosé blends Cinsault, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Ugni Blanc — a combination that reflects both the south's indigenous varieties and some later introductions. Cinsault contributes lightness and floral notes, Carignan adds structure and depth, Cabernet Sauvignon brings body and dark fruit character, and Ugni Blanc (more commonly associated with Cognac production) lends acidity and freshness when used in rosé blending.
