Onshore Cellars is proud to feature a selection of wines from the renowned Italian wine producer, Tenuta San Guido. Located in the Maremma region of Tuscany, this winery is famous for creating one of the world's most iconic and highly regarded wines - Sassicaia. With over 100 years of winemaking history, Tenuta San Guido has become a symbol of excellence and quality in the wine industry.

The history of Tenuta San Guido dates back to the late 19th century when the Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, a member of a noble Florentine family, inherited the Tenuta San Guido estate. Inspired by the Bordeaux wines he had tasted during his travels, the Marchese set out to create a wine that would rival the great French wines. He planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines in the sandy soil of his estate, which were originally intended for his personal consumption.

It wasn't until the 1940s that the Marchese's nephew, Piero Antinori, recognized the potential of Sassicaia and encouraged him to produce and market the wine. In 1968, Sassicaia was released to the public and quickly gained recognition and praise from wine critics and enthusiasts. In 1978, Sassicaia became the first Italian wine to be awarded the prestigious title of "Super Tuscan."

Today, the estate is managed by the Marchese's grandson, Nicolo Incisa della Rocchetta, who continues the legacy of producing exceptional wines. The estate has expanded to include a second wine, Guidalberto, as well as a third wine, Le Difese. However, it is Sassicaia that remains the flagship wine of Tenuta San Guido and continues to receive international acclaim.

One of the key factors that contribute to the unique character of Tenuta San Guido's wines is the terroir of the Maremma region. The sandy soil
