Ceretto is a renowned producer of Barolo DOCG, one of the most prestigious wines in Italy. The history of the winery dates back to the 1930s when Riccardo Ceretto started producing wine in the Langhe region of Piedmont. Today, the winery is run by his sons, Bruno and Marcello, who have continued the family tradition of producing high-quality wines.

Barolo DOCG is made from the Nebbiolo grape, which is grown in the hills of the Langhe region. The wine is known for its complex aromas and flavors, which include notes of cherry, leather, and tobacco. It is aged for at least three years in oak barrels, which gives it a rich and full-bodied character.

Ceretto's Barolo DOCG is made from grapes grown in some of the best vineyards in the region, including the Bricco Rocche and Brunate vineyards. These vineyards are known for their unique microclimates and soil types, which give the grapes a distinct character.

The winemaking process at Ceretto is a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before being fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for at least three years before being bottled.

Ceretto's Barolo DOCG is a wine that can be enjoyed now or aged for many years. It pairs well with rich, hearty dishes such as roasted meats and stews. With its complex aromas and flavors, Ceretto's Barolo DOCG is a wine that is sure to please any wine lover.

The organic Ceretto 2019 Barolo has a note of juicy cherry and plum that pops up immediately and ties into a floral note, almost musky, like a tuberose or something comparatively fragrant. The fruit leads, but the wine does offer sensual aromas to follow with soft baking spice, mineral and very fine-grained tannins. A blend of fruit comes from Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, La Morra and Serralunga d'Alba. The style is modern classic. This is a very generous wine.
Ceretto offers a tour de force in the 2018 vintage with four excellent single-vineyard expressions from Bricco Rocche, Bussia, Brunate and Prapò. If you can't choose between those wines, you always have this excellent fallback. The classic 2016 Barolo offers dark intensity with great aromatic detailing. Fruit and some floral notes are followed by ferrous notes and a good amount of powdered liquorice. The aromas are delicate and fragile; however, the wine deftly hides its power within the soft folds of its slender, mid-weight mouthfeel. This is a perfect go-to Barolo
The 2017 Barolo Brunate is another very expressive wine with a dark fruit signature and extra concentration, thanks to this warm vintage. Layers of black fruit and plum cede to spice, licorice and spent embers. To the palate, the wine shows an open-knit fiber with solid fruit weight and a richly layered approach.

The business was founded by Riccardo Ceretto in 1937, principally as a négociant in Alba. He was joined by his sons Bruno and Marcello in the 1960s; wanting to make their own wines, they began to buy premium land in Barolo and Barbaresco, and were among the very first in the region to see the potential of single-vineyard wines. Bruno’s children, Frederico and Roberta, and Marcello’s, Alessandro and Lisa, joined in the 1990s.

After a period of change and experimentation, a particular style began to appear in 2010, using a shorter skin contact and a mix of barrique and small bottle for a supple but precise expression of Nebbiolo. The family are also involved in various artistic and heritage projects, including the rejuvenation of the famous Piedmont hazelnuts and two restaurants in Alba.

The skill with which the Ceretto family chose their vineyards in the 1960s is further endorsed by their activity in Barbaresco. Today, they own a prime site in Asili – one of the region’s greatest vineyards – and Bernadot, the best site of the Treiso district. A small parcel of Gallina in Neive was acquired in 2017, to further enhance their representation of the different communes in the region. Barbaresco is traditionally felt to be a little warmer than Barolo, and the Ceretto 2019s certainly have the flesh and charm to complement the more coiled style of the vintage.

Barolo is a red wine produced in the Piedmont region of Italy. It is made from the Nebbiolo grape, which is known for its high tannins and acidity. Barolo has a long history, dating back to the 19th century when it was first produced in the town of Barolo. Today, it is one of Italy's most famous and prestigious wines.

Barolo is produced using traditional methods, with the grapes being hand-harvested and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years, although some producers age their Barolo for up to five years or more. This extended aging process gives Barolo its characteristic complexity and depth of flavour.

Barolo is known for its rich, full-bodied flavour, with notes of cherry, plum, and leather. It has a high tannin content, which gives it a firm structure and a long finish. Barolo is often described as a "wine for aging", as it can improve in the bottle for many years.

Some of the top Barolo producers include Giacomo Conterno, Bruno Giacosa, and Roberto Voerzio. These producers are known for their commitment to quality and their use of traditional methods. Barolo is also produced in several different appellations, including Barolo, Barbaresco, and Langhe.

Overall, Barolo is a wine that is steeped in history and tradition. Its rich flavour and complex character make it a favourite among wine enthusiasts around the world. Whether you are a seasoned wine connoisseur or a casual drinker, Barolo is a wine that is sure to impress.
