Aromas of sweet grilled meats, spicy cassis, cherries, and rich soil tones introduce the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a medium to full-bodied, ample, and impressively layered wine that includes some premier cru juice. With good depth and length, it's a decided success at the communal level this year.
Drouhin's 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin unwinds in the glass with a youthfully reserved nose of dark berry fruit, grilled meats, licorice and bergamot. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with tangy acids, a tight-knit core and powdery structuring tannins. This is a serious Gevrey that will demand and reward bottle age.
Drouhin's 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin is showing very well from bottle, offering up an incipiently reserved nose of raspberry, cherry, dark chocolate, currant leaf and undergrowth. On the palate, the wine is supple, fine-grained, and beautifully balanced, with succulent acids, a deep core and lovely persistence, defined by the understated reserve that is this Maison’s calling card. While this Gevrey's structural refinement will mean that it can give pleasure young, in the 2015 vintage this is decidedly a bottle which will reward some time in the cellar, and it should drink well for over two decades. Note that this incorporates full 30% premier cru fruit.

Founded in Beaune in 1880, Maison Joseph Drouhin's cellars have spread from the historical Cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France in Beaune (12th-18th centuries) to the Moulin de Vaudon, an 18th Century watermill in Chablis.

The Joseph Drouhin Domaine was assembled parcel by parcel over the years and comprises today 73 hectares (182.5 acres) of vineyards in Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise and Chablis. It is one of the most important domains in Burgundy, with more than two thirds of the vineyards classified as Premier and Grand Crus.

With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations.

Chardonnay er den primære drue til hvidvin i Bourgogne og udgør 48 % af vinstokkene og 68 % af produktionen. Chardonnay sætter pris på Bourgognes mergeljord, som giver den delikate blomster-, frugt- og mineralaromaer og en fyldig smag. Aligoté er den anden hvide drue og tegner sig for 6 % af produktionen. {Læs mere om den gamle Aligoté-drue i Bourgogne.}
