Still very much in the Himmelreich slate/mineral driven style, but at this level I started to see more ripe fruits including peach, apple and pear along with some wax – it’s really quite lovely already and it even feels like it is holding back something more. The fruit character is one of precision, purity and great length, the acidity supporting and lifting the fruit up, finishing with a sense of purpose.

Joh Jos Prüm estate is situated in the heart of Germany’s Mosel Valley. This legendary family wine estate has been involved in viticulture for several centuries but it was Dr. Manfred Prüm in 1969 that took the estate to the next level.

The vineyards are spread over 14.5 hectares of steeply sloping land and where Riesling is king. In the heart of the estate is the famous Sonnenuhr vineyard offering perfect growing conditions with its deep, weather beaten grey slate soil, good water support and an extreme steepness of 70%. The wines from here have excellent structure, ripe aromas and flavours, a fine minerality and great depth and length. They reach their best after many years of ageing and are considered some of the best Rieslings in Germany or even theworld.
