Aubert's passion for Eastside begins with its rocky slopes and cobbled soil, and is rewarded with the small, concentrated clusters that these vines struggle to produce each year.  The distinctive site-specific undertones and complex fruit-driven overtones of this wine exemplify an Aubert Chardonnay.

Mark Aubert’s Tasting Notes

"The 2019 Eastside bursts from the glass offering intricate aromas of powdered citrus, green apple crumble, dried apricot, lemon thyme, and sorbet. Ripe stone fruits saturate the palate, complemented by mineral nuances, crushed rocks, and a telltale sense of place. A beam of natural acid gives cut and penetration to the long, defined finish. A faint green reflection on the edge of the glass is indicative of the health of this wine. This wine will age gracefully for 10 to 15 years. The wine is slightly hazy showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking."

Aubert's winemaking process is carefully guided by a winemaker with a farmer’s heart and artisan’s soul. The essence of making great wine is rooted in a relationship with the land – it’s about the soil, about growing, about nurturing, about farming.

They look to nature for guidance and to science for insight, as they craft wine with minimal intervention so a sense of place is elegantly reflected in every bottle of Aubert wine. They believe the intellectual pursuit of winemaking has to be of the highest, most profound level of quality."The essence of making great wine is rooted in a relationship with the land — it’s about the soil, about growing, about nurturing, about farming." - Mark Aubert

Napa Valley is acknowledged to be the world's second-best source of Cabernet Sauvignon/Bordeaux blends and Chardonnays, while Santa Barbara and Sonoma Counties are home to world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
