Château de Lancyre - Madame

Tasting notes

92 Points - The Wine Advocate

"Based on a single parcel of old-vine Syrah (with a splash of Grenache blended in), the 2015 Cuvee Madame spent 22 months in tank prior to bottling. It's a svelte, creamy-textured wine, loaded with notes of cola, blueberries and savory dried spices. There's enough dusty tannin on the finish to suggest that cellaring for another 5-6 years wouldn't be out of the question, although it's certainly drinkable now." - Joe Czerwinski

    Onshore Cellars - ICONIC Producer

The long overlooked style and quality of this increasingly fashionable appellation has been recognised with the ‘Grand Cru de Languedoc’ status. The Durand and Valentin families are now recognised as one of the leading producers in the region, producing a mouthwatering rosé and a lush, velvety reds. From its dominant hilltop position, Château de Lancyre looks back over several centuries of history. From the outset, they aimed to produce quality wines. They were part of a small group of local wine growers who helped each other and founded the Pic Saint Loup appellation. The oldest parts of the property date back to the 12th century, as evidenced by the château’s mullioned window and columns. Château de Lancyre extends over 75 hectares of vines and has a team of 10 employees.
