Sombai was founded in 2012 by two French entrepreneurs, Lionel and Joelle, who were inspired by the local flavors and spices of Cambodia. They wanted to create a product that truly represented the essence of the country and its culture, and thus Sombai was born.

The name Sombai comes from the Khmer word “sombok”, which means a traditional Cambodian spice. This reflects the company’s commitment to using locally-sourced ingredients in their products. The base of their spirits is rice wine, a traditional Cambodian drink, which is distilled and infused with local herbs, fruits, and spices to create unique and flavorful blends.
