The Argiano 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is rich and generous with lots of dark cherry, blackberry and plum. The wine presents an enhanced savory side with spice, Spanish cedar and a hint of smoked rosemary. This classic vintage is known for its balance, showing both elegance and power. This bottle from Argiano is a great example of precisely that. The finish is long and savory with smoke and earthy tones. A mere 1,290 bottles were produced, and sadly, the Riserva is not exported to the United States market.
With DNA carefully shaped by Tuscan sunshine and golden light, the 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a textbook expression of the vintage. The wine reveals soft and ripe fruit with dark cherry, candied apricot, cola, medicinal herb and aniseed. There is depth and complexity, followed by a powerful mid-palate and textured tannins. This Riserva represents a special selection of fruit from across the estate's 22 hectares of Brunello. The clay and limestone marl site is located at a breezy 280 to 310 meters above sea level. Production is very small, with just 1,700 bottles made.
With the black label, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino reveals dried fruit aromas with cola, grilled herb, candied orange peel and earthy clay. This is a mid-weight Brunello with silky tannins and a long finish. It displays a savory and spicy personality with hints of dried fruit and baked plum that add a fleeting point of sweetness. This is an approachable Brunello to drink over the next 10 years.
The Argiano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino comes out stronger than the previous 2018 and 2017 vintages, thanks to the precision and focus of its fruit flavors in this balanced vintage. It shows ample depth and volume, with sweet cherry and blackberry that fold into softly toasted spice and earth. Floral hints of lilac and iris make brief but poignant appearances. Velvety tannins and a nicely concentrated mid-weight palate give good staying power.

Argiano is certainly one of the most beautiful Tuscan houses. The wines have never been so great, as demonstrated by the notes which fall each year. The grapes come from the most beautiful plots of Montalcino, benefiting from a particularly favorable microclimate at about 300 meters above sea level where one part is composed of an abundant structure of clay, sand and limestone, the other is composed of deep clays.

The identification of the terroir of each parcel has enabled the oenologists to plant each grape variety on the land and the climate that best suits it. The result is the creation of several cuvées with a strong identity in an inimitable style. It is today that all the greatest critics unanimously agree that the Argiano estate produces unique wines, of high quality and above all for long aging. The key words to describe their cuvées are elegance, expression of the terroir, finesse and length in the mouth!

Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine produced in the Tuscany region of Italy. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, which are grown in the hills surrounding the town of Montalcino. The wine is known for its rich, complex flavors and aromas, as well as its ability to age for many years.

The history of Brunello di Montalcino dates back to the 14th century, when the Sangiovese grape was first planted in the region. However, it was not until the mid-19th century that the wine began to gain recognition outside of the local area. In 1888, the first Brunello di Montalcino was bottled by Ferruccio Biondi-Santi, a local winemaker who is credited with creating the modern style of the wine.

Today, Brunello di Montalcino is produced by a number of different wineries in the region, each with their own unique style and approach. Some of the most well-known producers include Biondi-Santi, Il Poggione, and Banfi.

The production process for Brunello di Montalcino is highly regulated, with strict rules governing everything from the grape varieties used to the aging process. The grapes must be harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years. After this initial aging period, the wine is then aged in the bottle for an additional four months before being released for sale.

The resulting wine is a deep ruby red color, with aromas of red fruit, leather, and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, with flavors of cherry, plum, and spice. The tannins are firm and well-structured, giving the wine a long, lingering finish.

Overall, Brunello di Montalcino is a wine that is highly prized by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Its rich history, complex flavors, and ability to age for many years make it a true gem of the Italian wine world.
