Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux is a wine estate based in Vosne-Romanée, one of the most celebrated villages on the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. The domaine originated with Robert Arnoux and passed to his son-in-law Pascal Lachaux, who has led winemaking since the 1980s and formally changed the name to reflect the family transition. Pascal Lachaux is widely regarded as a meticulous, thoughtful producer who has gradually shifted the estate toward lower yields and more precise viticulture over the decades.
Vosne-Romanée sits at the heart of the Côte de Nuits and is the only village in Burgundy that contains no appellation-level wine considered merely ordinary by regional standards. The village and its surrounding premier and grand cru vineyards produce exclusively Pinot Noir, a grape well suited to the limestone-rich, well-drained soils of this part of the Côte d'Or. Wines from Vosne-Romanée tend toward complexity and aromatic precision rather than weight, with a structure that typically rewards patience in the cellar.
The village-level Vosne-Romanée appellation represents the entry point into the hierarchy of this commune. Even at this level, the wines carry the characteristic elegance of the village, offering red fruit, earthy depth, and a refined texture associated with good Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir. Arnoux-Lachaux's approach in the vineyard and cellar gives even their village-designation wines a notable degree of detail and longevity.
