Rocca di Montegrossi is a wine estate located in the Monti in Chianti subzone of Gaiole in Chianti, one of the most historically significant areas within the Chianti Classico DOCG in Tuscany. The estate has long been associated with the Ricasoli-Firidolfi family, descendants of a lineage tied to this corner of Tuscany for centuries. The property sits at elevation in the heart of the Classico zone, where the combination of galestro and alberese soils shapes wines of notable structure and tension.

Chianti Classico DOCG is built predominantly on Sangiovese, the grape that defines central Tuscany. Within the appellation, wines must meet strict varietal and production requirements, and the zone's cooler elevations and stony soils tend to produce Sangiovese with firm acidity, red fruit character, and the capacity for meaningful aging. Rocca di Montegrossi has historically produced both estate Chianti Classico and a single-vineyard expression, San Marcellino, from old vines, alongside a Vin Santo del Chianti Classico made from Malvasia and Trebbiano — wines that reflect a traditional but quality-focused approach to the appellation.
