Tasting the 2022 Crios Malbec next to the new organic one, it was easy to see how this wine from the Valle de Uco (from Los Chacayes, Vista Flores, Los Árboles and Gualtallary Sur) is subtler and has a different point of balance despite having very similar parameters. Here, 40% of the volume spends eight months in used French oak barrels, but there is no aromatic influence of the élevage. It's fresh, balanced and juicy but with a little more austerity and fine-grained tannins. Clean, approachable and tasty. 720,000 bottles produced represents a huge chunk of the total production of the winery.

Mendoza is a wine region located in Argentina, known for producing some of the world's finest Malbec wines. The region has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the 16th century when Spanish colonizers first introduced grapevines to the area. Today, Mendoza is home to over 1,500 wineries, making it the largest wine-producing region in Argentina.

The style of production in Mendoza is heavily influenced by the region's unique climate and geography. The area is situated at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, which provide a natural barrier against the Pacific Ocean's cool winds. This results in a dry, sunny climate with large temperature fluctuations between day and night. These conditions are ideal for growing grapes with thick skins, which produce rich, full-bodied wines with intense fruit flavors.

The most popular grape variety grown in Mendoza is Malbec, which accounts for over 60% of the region's vineyards. Other red grape varieties grown in the region include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Mendoza also produces some excellent white wines, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Torrontés.

Overall, Mendoza is a must-visit destination for wine lovers looking to explore the world of Argentine wine. The region's unique climate and geography, combined with its rich winemaking history, make it a fascinating and rewarding place to discover new and exciting wines.
