Château Certan de May is a prestigious wine producer located in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France. This historic estate has a long and rich history dating back to the 18th century, when it was founded by the de May family. Today, the estate is owned by the Barthe family, who have been dedicated to preserving the legacy and quality of the wines produced at Château Certan de May.

The Pomerol appellation is known for producing some of the finest and most sought-after wines in the world, and Château Certan de May is no exception. The terroir of this region is ideal for growing Merlot, which is the dominant grape variety used in the wines produced at the estate. The clay and gravel soils, combined with a temperate climate, create the perfect conditions for the grapes to reach optimal ripeness and express their unique characteristics.

Château Certan de May is also notable for its commitment to sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices. The estate has been certified organic since 2015, and the vineyards are tended to with great care and respect for the land. This dedication to sustainable viticulture not only benefits the environment, but also contributes to the overall quality of the wines.

The flagship wine of Château Certan de May is the Château Certan de May Grand Vin, a blend of primarily Merlot with smaller percentages of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is known for its elegance, complexity, and age-worthiness. The estate also produces a second wine, Les Demoiselles de Certan, which offers a more accessible and approachable option for those looking to experience the exceptional quality of Château Certan de May at a lower price point.

Château Certan de May is highly regarded by critics and wine enthusiasts alike, and its wines consistently receive high ratings and praise. The estate's dedication to quality, sustainability, and tradition has solid

Bordeaux, in the southwest of France, needs little introduction as one of the world's most famous, prestigious and prolific wine regions. The majority of Bordeaux wines (nearly 90 percent of production volume) are the dry, medium- and full-bodied red Bordeaux Blends that established its reputation.

The finest (and most expensive) of these are the wines from the great châteaux of the Haut-Médoc and the Right Bank appellations Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The former is focused (at the top level) on Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter pair on on Merlot.

The legendary reds are complemented by high-quality white wines based on Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. These range from dry whites to challenge the best from the Burgundy region (Pessac-Léognan is particularly renowned) to the sweet, botrytized nectars of Sauternes.
