Blanc-Fumé’s direct translation is “smoky-white,” which is also an apt name for this wine due to the smoky-grey hue its grapes take on as they mature, as well as the “gun-flint” aromas that the wine expresses.

This 2020 vintage, masculine, fresh, chiseled, is a great Pouilly Fumé, with notes of Citrus and Apple. Full and round, this signature cuvée surprises with its freshness. The impressive complexity and the finish of incredible length are the two characteristics that we retain of this cuvée after tasting it!

Today, It covers 120 hectares between Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, 60 hectares in Touraine for "Attitude". These 120 hectares produce 80% of the whole domain; 20% has been sourced from faithful growers loyal to Pascal Jolivet since the 1980s. Over the years, Pascal has developed his own much recognisable pure and elegant style of wines.

Pascal practices a biodynamic winemaking, which, in viticultural terms, views the farm as a cohesive, interconnected living system; such practices extend from the vineyard to the careful handling of the fruit post harvest in the winery. In Jolivet's winery following harvest, vinification begins with light must settling followed by juice fermentation with indigenous yeasts; next maturation on lees is fundamental for the concentration and the complexity of all Jolivet wines. The process is extremely natural and the slow fermentations nourish and sustainably stabilise the wines using very low levels of sulphur

Located between the centre and northwest of France, the Loire accounts for approximately eight percent of France's vineyards and is home to some of its most famous wines, notably Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Muscadet and Vouvray. Its trade and vinous history are intrinsically linked to the 600-mile Loire River whose flow, from the Massif Central to Nantes, has created a rich diversity of terroirs while crossing several climatic zones.

Pouilly-Fumé is a famous white Sauvignon Blanc appellation located on the right bank of the Loire River. At 1,200 hectares, it is approximately half the size of nearby Sancerre and tightly-focused around the villages of St Andelain and Les Loges on a south-west facing slope. Such is the stony intensity of a good Pouilly-Fumé that many producers are now ageing their best crus in French oak, to good effect.
