Viña Almaviva S.A.

Viña Almaviva is a Chilean wine producer based in the Maipo Valley, formed through a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. of Bordeaux and Concha y Toro, one of Chile's largest wine companies. The estate focuses on producing red wine from its vineyards in the Puente Alto subzone of Maipo, an area situated at the foot of the Andes where alluvial soils and a significant diurnal temperature range contribute to structured, age-worthy reds.

The Maipo Valley has long been associated with Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines, and Almaviva works within that tradition while incorporating other Bordeaux varieties alongside Carmenère, a grape that found a second home in Chile after nearly disappearing from France. The combination of Andean influence, well-drained gravelly soils, and a dry Mediterranean-style climate allows for consistent phenolic ripeness while retaining acidity and freshness in the finished wines.

The EPU is Almaviva's second wine, blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, and Merlot. It draws from the same estate fruit as the flagship Almaviva bottling and follows a similar Bordeaux-influenced winemaking approach, offering a more accessible entry point into the producer's style while reflecting the character of the Puente Alto terroir.
