The 2019 Block 5 Pinot Noir still exudes some greenish, stemmed aromas (Winemaker Blair Walter included 20% whole clusters). Those notes nicely complement hints of roses, wild thyme, black cherries and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, this is concentrated and firm, with a long, dusty finish.
The 2018 Block 5 Pinot Noir shows its typical dark earthiness and sous-bois notes, black cherry fruit and hints of mocha. It's medium-bodied and plump in the mouth, with plenty of flesh, supple tannins and a long, softly dusty finish tinged with clove, cinnamon and cocoa.

Central Otago is a wine region located in the southernmost part of New Zealand's South Island. It is known for producing some of the world's best Pinot Noir wines. The region has a cool climate with a short growing season, which results in wines with intense fruit flavors and high acidity. The vineyards are planted on steep slopes and terraces, which provide excellent drainage and exposure to the sun. The region has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the 1860s when French winemakers first planted vines in the area. Today, Central Otago is home to over 100 wineries, producing a range of wines including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. The winemakers in the region are known for their commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices, which help to preserve the unique terroir of the area. Overall, Central Otago is a must-visit destination for wine lovers who appreciate the beauty of the landscape and the quality of the wines produced in this region.
